How it works
AluCLEAN is a patented refining solution designed to improve molten aluminium cleanliness during semi-continuous and continuous casting while enabling chlorine-free operations. The refining rod delivers a precise, metered addition of flux directly into the degasser, where it efficiently removes alkalis and non-metallic inclusions from the molten metal.
The refining rod consists of a sealed aluminium tube containing a fully anhydrous fused flux (60% MgCl₂ – 40% KCl). As the rod is fed into the degasser, the refining flux is released into the molten aluminium, providing controlled treatment without introducing moisture, thus keeping the hydrogen level low.
AluCLEAN is compatible with any degassing system and can be used with standard grain refiner feeder systems or the dedicated AluCLEAN rod feeder. STAS also offers integration services to adapt the solution to the customer’s casting line, for both new installations and retrofit projects.
